To request a visit at home by the
doctor ring 01909 770213 before
11:30am (or any time for a
medical emergency).
Home visits are intended for
patients who are unable to get to
the surgery due to a medical
condition – if you leave the home at
other times, such as shopping trips,
visiting the bank, dentist or
hairdresser then we would normally
expect you to attend the surgery.
Sadly, the NHS cannot afford to
offer home visits because of a lack
of transport. In the time taken to
carry out one home visit a doctor
can see two or three patients at the
surgery. In addition there are good
medical reasons why the surgery is a
better place to see people - we have
more equipment for diagnosis,
couches for examinations and nurses
to assist us. If someone is unwell
we can usually see them earlier in
the day at the surgery, since
visiting doesn’t begin until after
morning surgery (except in an
emergency).
Our receptionists will take a few
details if a patient feels they
might need a home visit, and one of
the doctors may ring after morning
surgery to see if a visit is indeed
required. They may give advice,
request that you attend the surgery,
or visit if appropriate.
To aid us in this we ask that all
requests for visits be made BEFORE
11.30am; requests after this time
will only be visited that day if
they are emergencies.
